Faculty Position in Theoretical Nuclear Physics

The School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Minnesota invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in nuclear theory with an anticipated starting date in the fall of 2006. The initial appointment will be a cooperative fellowship with the RIKEN BNL Research Center (RBRC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) for a period of up to 5 years. During this period the Assistant Professor/Fellow will spend about half time at the University of Minnesota and the remaining time at the RBRC in BNL. Current interests of the nuclear theory group in the School of Physics and Astronomy include relativistic heavy ion collisions and nuclear astrophysics, but candidates with expertise in a broad range of research areas consistent with the RBRC fellowship program will be considered. Candidates will be judged on their potential for excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidate is expected to have postdoctoral experience in one of these research areas and must have demonstrated the ability to conduct vigorous and significant research. The ability to effectively teach physics at both the undergraduate and graduate level is required. Applicants should send a curriculum vita, publication list, description of past research and of future research plans, and arrange to have at least 3 letters of reference sent to:

The application and letters of reference must also be sent to:

Review of applications will begin on February 28, 2006 but applications will continue to be accepted until the position is filled.
