The effect of microwaves on tunnel junctions.
I. K. Schuller, E. D. Dahlberg
Nonequilibrium Superconductivity Schu p. 169 (169).
Abstract: Shows that the effect of microwaves on tunnel junctions is to open new tunneling channels for quasiparticles. A theoretical calculation performed in the adiabatic limit is in good quantitative agreement with experiments. It is possible to distinguish two distinct regimes where: the microwave step width [right angle bracket] interstep separation ('quantum') and in the opposite case the 'classical' limit. The theoretical picture is able to account for the experimental facts in all regimes, even the intermediate one. The study of the effect of microwaves on the phonon structure is suggested for future work. (22 References).
