Awschalom Group
Located at U.C. Santa Barbara, Prof. David D. Awschalom's group works
on a variety of problems related to magnetism and semiconductors,
including spintronics.
Hybrid
Materials Epitaxy Center
Led by Prof. Chris J. Palmstrøm, the University of Minnesota's
Hybrid Materials Epitaxy Center focuses on the heteroepitaxial growth
of novel materials and structures.
Materials
Research Science and Engineering Center
Created by the National Science Foundation in 1994, the Materials
Research Science and Engineering Centers (MRSEC) work to foster
interdisciplinary materials research and education. The University of
Minnesota MRSEC was founded in 1998. It supports multidisciplinary
research in a number of fields, including microstructured polymers, artificial tissues, and magnetic heterostructures.
Magnetic Microscopy
Center
Prof. Dan Dahlberg's group, also located at the University of
Minnesota, focuses on high resolution magnetic force microscopy. Other
areas of research include exchange bias, giant and colossal
magnetoresistance, and spinglasses.
