Description: A Michelson interferometer is shown to the class. The
laser (which
is carefully aligned) is turned on while the initial position of the
micrometer is read. The number of fringes is counted while the micrometer
is slowly turned. The final position of the micrometer is read again. If
you wish, a tunable laser (red, orange, orange-yellow, yellow, and green) can
be used to demonstrate the wavelength dependence of the pattern.
