Speed of Light - Reflector


PIRA Classification: 6A01.10

Description: Light pulses from a modulated LED bounce off of a reflector and are picked up by a photodetector. The reflector is moved 1 m across the bench, causing the pulse (on a scope) to travel approximately 6.6 nsec on the screen.

Special Instructions: The shape of the pulse must remain constant if you wish to measure the speed of light (see pictures above).

Ideally For: Phys 1202, 2303, 2403H, 2503

Condition: Ok.
