Radioactive vs. Irradiated Salt

Description: Irradiated salt (NaCl) (Click here for
details) and salt substitute (KCl) are shown to the class. A geiger counter
is used to show that the KCl is slightly radioactive, but the irradiated salt
(which is orange-brown in color)
is not. Pour a small amount of the irradiated salt on a hot plate. It will
glow momentarily and then turn back to the usual white color.
