Collision Time Pendula

Description: Two conducting spheres comprise the bobs of pendula. The spheres are part of a circuit containing a 9V battery and monitored by a scope. When the one sphere is displaced and released, it strikes the second sphere, triggering the scope. The time the spheres are in contact is displayed. The average collision time is approximately 0.25 ms.

Special Instructions: Flip the switch on the back of the apparatus, displace one sphere, and press the 'Single Seq' button on the scope. Release the ball to see the collision time.
