Measuring Buoyant Force

PIRA Classification: 2B40.14

Description: Two masses [stainless steel (wt = 40 N) and aluminum (wt = 14 N)], having the same volume, are suspended from spring scales or force probes. Each mass is lowered into a beaker of water and the change in weight is observed.

Special Instructions: The buoyant force should be 5 N.

Ideally For: Phys 1101, 1201, 1401

Condition: OK

Setup time: 4 minutes
