PIRA Classification: 5M10.10
Description: The ends of a rectangular strip of N-doped germanium
are connected to a 5 volt power supply. A voltmeter is used to monitor the
transverse potential. The connductor is inserted between the poles of a
permanent magnet. The voltmeter reading is observed. The conductor is
inverted and inserted. The meter is observed again.
Special Instructions: There is a large offset in the measured
voltage. That is, the voltage is non-zero when outside of the field.
