Attraction of Charged Plates

Description: One plate of a parallel plate capacitor rests on a sensitive digital scale. The vertical position of the other plate can be varied (thus changing the separation distance) using a thumb screw. 1000, 2000, or 3000 V can be applied to the capacitor. Once can observe the change in force between the plates by varying the voltage or plate separation.
