Parallel Plate Capacitor

PIRA Classification: 5C10.20
Description: A large parallel plate capacitor is connected to
an electroscope. The terminals of a 1000 V battery are touched to the
capacitor while the
plates are close together causing the electroscope to deflect slightly.
The plates are pulled apart. The
electroscope is observed for any changes.
Special Instructions: Make sure the plates aren't touching.
Don't short the battery.
