General Information

Held during each summer meeting of the AAPT.

Participants do not need to be AAPT members, nor do they need to be present to win.

Participants may ship their apparatus to the meeting if they are not able to attend the meeting.

Apparatus is either new in design or a modification of an existing design.

Apparatus is not commercially available.

The specifics of the apparatus have not been published.

Participants may enter a single apparatus in both categories provided that the criteria for both categories is met.

Unlimited Cost Category Low Cost Category

1^st Prize $1000 (Apparatus built for less than $100)

2^nd Prize $600 Up to six awards of

3^rd Prize $200 $100 each

Dates of Interest

June 1 Notify competition director of your intention to enter the competition,

obtain an official entry form, and submit the size of your entry and required
services for the display of your apparatus.

June 15    Complete entry materials are due. Late entries are accepted provided space is
            available and the competition director is notified prior to departure for the meeting.
            Late entries might not be published in the on-site list of apparatus.

July 14, 12:00 pm Apparatus set-up in Portland (other times by prior arrangement)

July 14, 5:30 pm Apparatus competition judging (closed to viewing)

July 15-16 Apparatus viewing by meeting attendees

July 17, 10:00 am Removal of apparatus
